Reserve Citizen Airmen and civilians assigned to the 301st Fighter Wing participated in the annual Valentines for Veterans initiative between 5-8 February 2022.

Valentine’s Day holds a special meaning to members of the wing, with a reminder to cherish and love those who have served before them.

“Valentine’s Day is a day most people celebrate with a spouse, significant other or partner, but sometimes this is not the case,” said Wannisa Sanftner 301st Fighter wing protocol officer. “Many of our nation’s veterans are in veteran’s homes and I hope that if they are not sharing the day with a loved one, they feel special receiving the cards we wrote out to them.”

Valentines for Veterans is an initiative led by the Texas Veteran’s Land Board and the non-profit organization “Soldiers’ Angels” to remind veterans that they are not forgotten, along with thanking them for their service.

This year, members of the 301st Fighter Wing provided nearly 100 cards to various Veterans Homes throughout Texas and the efforts of the wing did not go unnoticed.

“It is so heartwarming when we receive the Valentines for Veterans cards and these last few years have been difficult for everyone,” said Georgi Broschstein, Watkins-Logan Texas State Veterans Home caregiver. “The cards bring these veterans some of the love they deserve and thank you to everyone who participates.”
