January Spotlight: Master Sergeant Damion Howell

Q: How long have you been with the 301st?

I joined in 2014 so... five years now.

 

Q: What did you want to do as a kid?

I wanted to be an engineer as a kid. When I was in 5th grade, my teacher told me she thought I was smart enough to be an engineer. I took it and ran with it.

 

Q: Why did you join the military?

I joined the military because I just thought it would be a perfect fit for me as a person. When you think of Air Force you think of the smart ones in the military, so I saw that was a good fit for me–and that is what my mom wanted to me to do also.

 

Q: What does your job entail and what is your favorite part of the job?

My job entails overseeing all inbound personnel, handling 2096 forms, awards and decorations, and EPR/OPRs. My favorite part of the job is interacting with people.

Q: What are your career goals?

My career goal is to one day be the Chief or Superintendent of the FSS.

 

Q: What are your hobbies? 

Basketball, Football... any sport pretty much.

 

Q: What is something people might not know about you?

I am a huge fan of Skylines. Just the love of the tall buildings and the lights is just beautiful to me!

 

Q: What’s the best piece of advice that you’ve used in your military career?

Hard work will never come unnoticed! Always have a positive attitude, because you never know what impact you may have on the next person!
