Fellow Airmen,

We've started work on the 2015 CSAF Reading List. The last two reading lists - 2013 and 2014 - focused in large part on innovation. Chief Cody and I selected the books, movies, photos, artwork, Technology, Entertainment, Design (TED) talks, and resources on those lists because we felt they sparked fresh ideas, presented new perspectives, or offered inspiring stories of innovation from our past.

Innovation and forward-thinking are great; both are vital to our success. However, when you're taking a leap, you've got to know where you've come from...so this year, we're planning a Reading List that centers on the Profession of Arms and, even more specifically, our Core Values: Integrity First, Service Before Self, and Excellence in All We Do.

It is important that all Airmen understand the Profession of Arms and the values on which our own Service is based. So this year, I thought we'd kick off the search by asking you: What should we read or talk about?

I've opened up the CSAF Reading List website for your submissions; you can find the link here: http://static.dma.mil/usaf/csafreadinglist/index.html

I ask you to give me your thoughts on those books, TED talks, and movies that have inspired you throughout your service as an Airman, made you proud to be among the half-a-percent of Americans who've dedicated themselves to the Profession of Arms, or gave you a new perspective on Integrity, Service, or Excellence.

The link will be open until 22 Aug 2014, so please send us your submissions, and we'll build a list that will make our Air Force stronger! I'm excited to hear from you and excited to read some terrific books recommended by the greatest Airmen in the world! Thanks for all you do!
