The 301st Fighter Wing Legal Office is a one-stop shop for a full spectrum of legal services.

“Our mission is to support the 301 FW, our commanders, and our airmen,” Maj. Ryan Springer, deputy staff judge advocate said. “It’s our job to make sure that any sort of legal issues or challenges that they may have, we can help overcome and resolve them.”

The 301 FW Legal Office, composed of three Judge Advocates (“JAGs”) and two paralegals that all are Traditional Reservists, advise wing leadership on a wide variety of legal matters.

“Military Justice is a critical area where we routinely assist our commanders, first sergeants, and other wing leaders,” stated Lt. Col. Collin Delaney, staff judge advocate.  “Our goal is to enable commanders to uphold good order and discipline through the efficient and equitable administration of disciplinary actions.”

The 301 FW Legal Office personnel often encounter and apply various forms of law through their practice.

“Operations Law is another area where the legal office provides a key role to the wing,” noted Senior Master Sgt. Troy Tobaben, 301 FW JA senior enlisted leader. “Our legal team is instrumental in advising commanders concerning the Rules of Engagement and Law and Armed Conflict in both war and peacetime.”

The legal services provided to the wing do not end there; however – the 301 FW's JAGs and paralegals also provide a wide variety of legal assistance support for our airmen.  Services performed include drafting wills, powers of attorney, notarizing documents, and providing legal counsel on a variety of civil law matters.

“Since January 2020, we have directly saved our airmen over $90,000 in legal fees through our legal assistance program,” Springer said. "We are very proud of the help we have been able to provide our airmen and their dependents in this capacity, which we will continue to do.”

301 FW legal assistance is available by appointment only and the 301 FW Legal Office can be reached for service at:  301fw.ja.workflow@us.af.mil

While not a substitute for consulting with an attorney, 301st Fighter Wing members can also find helpful information on a wide variety of civil law topics on the Air Force Legal Assistance website:  https://aflegalassistance.law.af.mil/apps/aflass_public/bin/main.php.
