The Air Force issued a notice of intent to prepare an Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) and to hold a public scoping meeting on the proposed beddown of the Air Force Reserve Command F-35A mission at the 301st Fighter Wing at NAS Fort Worth JRB.

The meeting will be held April 19, 2018 from 5-8 p.m., at the Cendera Center, 3600 Benbrook Highway, Fort Worth, Texas.

The meeting will be in a “come and go,” open-house format. This style allows local area residents an opportunity to learn more about the F-35A mission and speak with Reserve Citizen Airmen one-on-one about the proposed plan.

Although no public testimony from the local community will occur at the meeting, the Air Force encourages written comments. Public input assists the Air Force in making decisions that are more informed.

AFRC’s F-35A mission includes the beddown and operation of 24 aircraft, facility and infrastructure development, and personnel changes.

During the EIS process, the Air Force will analyze potential environmental consequences associated with implementing the F-35A mission.

The public can submit comments at the scoping meeting or via the project website at Public input must be received by May 11, 2018 to ensure consideration in the draft EIS. Once finalized, this statement will assist the Secretary of the Air Force in making a final decision on the location of the first Air Force Reserve F-35A unit.

NAS Fort Worth JRB is one of four locations being considered for the new F-35A mission.
