The 301st Logistics Readiness Squadron was recently awarded the General Thomas P. Gerrity Logistics Award, which recognizes the unit's outstanding contributions to logistics operations.

The award is named after the former deputy chief of staff for systems and logistics, whose leadership drove numerous management initiatives that ensured aircraft, missiles and support equipment operated at top efficiency, according to Air Force Instruction 36-2822.

In order to win the award, the 301st LRS faced challenges head on.

"One of our challenges is also one of our advantages...In addition to the daily support to the flying mission, we provided direct logistics support to 450 plus security forces Airmen from across AFRC (Air Force Reserve Command) through the regional Patriot Defender mission," Major James Dickey, 301st Logistics Readiness Squadron commander said.

In addition to the above challenges, the squadron which is comprised of four flights and close to 100 members accomplished dozens of management and organizational objectives.

"Unit recognition is earned by the countless and sometimes thankless individual efforts by our Reserve, Air Reserve Technician and civilian Airmen," Dickey said. "It's a collective pat on the back for their hard work to support the Air Force mission every day."

The Airmen who earned this award, understand what it took to get there. According to First Lieutenant Chelsea Migura, 301st Deployment and Distribution Flight commander, "It just validates the hard work we've been doing," she said. "Everyone tells you you're good, but then when you win the award, it's like wow, we really are good."
