He called himself 'The Ol' Sarge'. People who knew and worked with him often used his call sign -- they called him 'Scarecrow'. Many called him friend.

Larry called himself a transplanted Yankee. He spent nearly all of his adult life in the south.

He also spent his life as a true patriot in service to his country - on active duty, as a Traditional Reservist, and finally as an Air Reserve Technician Most of his career was spent right here at Carswell Air Force Base.

He dedicated his career in Life Support to taking care of the aviators under his care. His promise to them was that he would make sure they had all the knowledge, the best equipment and the best training possible, to ensure their survival should something go wrong. He went above and beyond by envisioning and putting in place Air Force-wide training programs like Wild Stallion and the Combat Search and Rescue (CSAR) training program at Camp Billy Gibbons, Texas.

He will be remembered as the one who had the answers and get you what you needed. He will be remembered as the one whose information you could trust. He told people, "If I tell you a chicken can pull a wagon, then hook the chicken up." Those who knew him never needed to test the truth of his statements.

He will be remembered as a fair and kind man. One who gave the benefit of the doubt and a second chance, although he might argue that one for reputation sake. He will be remembered as the person you could always go to and who would always listen.

Most of all, he'll be remembered as a true friend, and he'll be missed.
