Third annual golf tournament brings success for the greater good Published Sept. 29, 2008 By Tech. Sgt. Julie Briden-Garcia 301st Fighter Wing Fort Worth, TEXAS -- Getting 120 people together at the same place, same time is a chore. However, Chief Master Sgt. Mark Godfrey and Master Sgt. Nate Robin didn't have any problem, or not ones they would acknowledge. These two 301st Aircraft Maintenance Squadron members were the coordinators for the third annual 301st Fighter Wing Annual Awards Banquet Golf Tournament and fund-raiser. They put together 28 four-person teams on Sept. 7 at the White Rock Golf Course in Benbrook, Texas, to raise money to assist in defraying the cost for junior enlisted members to attend the banquet. "We raised close to $5,000 dollars this year," said Sergeant Robin. "That will help pay for some of the necessities it takes to put this kind of venue together." After the tournament, won by a team scoring 54 (nothing short of amazing), everyone gathered on the porch for hamburgers. The entire event was sponsored by the wing's Chief Group while the food stuff was coordinated and cooked by Senior Master Sgt. Patty Roark, 301st Services Flight. Then came the coup de grace, the event everyone was waiting for, the golf club giveaway. Chief Master Sgt. Harry Wyatt, 610th Regional Support Group disaster preparedness section, took the prize, much to the chagrin of the crowd. But it was all in fun, and fund-raising, for the upcoming banquet. The banquet is set for January 10, 2009, at the Fort Worth Convention Center. Get your tickets early.
