To the Airmen of the United States Air Force:

On 11 September 2001, our Nation was attacked by terrorists whose purpose was to inflict harm and incite fear.  They may have knocked us down, but we rose to confront this evil head-on.

Those who lived or served through this event will never forget where they were, what they were doing, and how they were impacted.  We will not forget the lives lost, both victims and first responders, or those Airmen who have sacrificed so much since then in defense of our nation.  For perspective, our newest Airman was born eighteen years ago on this fateful day.  We encourage you to share your story with those who follow behind you, so that we may never forget.

As we proudly serve, we are also fortunate to receive continuous gratitude from our fellow Americans for our personal sacrifices.  This should be a source of strength and resolve for each and every one of us and a sentiment for which we can be thankful.

Thank you for your service to this great country we all call home—proud to be on your team.
