WASHINGTON -- To the Men and Women of the Air and Space Forces,
Veterans Day is a time to reflect on the selfless and courageous contributions made by generations of our service members and their families. We honor those who serve—and who have served—this great nation with a steadfast commitment to defending liberty and our way of life. As the Department evolves, we take great care to recognize our collective strength, and how diversity of experience makes us a more capable and resilient force.
Brigadier General (Retired) Charles McGee, an original Tuskegee Airman, is an example of such selflessness and valor. Now 100 years of age, General McGee served in World War II, Korea and Vietnam, flying over 400 combat missions during his 31-year career. Another such example is Major General (Retired) Robert Rosenberg. General Rosenberg’s steadfast service over a 30-year career included assignments maintaining the operational readiness of strategic air forces and early development and operation of Air Force ballistic missile and space systems. Generals McGee and Rosenberg truly embody our unified spirit, and the importance of solidarity and teamwork.
Today we pause to honor all those serving—for your unique contributions and what you bring to the fight. We also thank the millions of our veterans, families and other loved ones who support us and serve as our example. You truly fortify us as a Department.
We thank you for your service and are proud to serve with you.
